With the computer equipment now in the loft I have been deciding how to incorporate it into the layout. Just stacking it under the layout with the keyboard on the floor wasn’t really an option. Eventually I decided to try and incorporate the monitor and keyboard into the baseboard structure. The best place for this is in front of the straight run of double mainline track, just before the turn into ‘Dalesmouth’ station.
With decisions made it was just a case of some simple woodwork to create a shelf for the monitor. Fortunately I had some drawer runners saved from old desk and I have used these to give me a roll-out keyboard shelf.
Although it is slightly on the low side it all works in rather neatly.
The finished article…
…with roll-out shelf.
With the monitor in place you can see that it doesn’t intrude too much into the landscape.
And here is the keyboard and mouse on the roll-out shelf.
