By way of a change from track laying, I’ve decided to tackle some odd jobs today. This will include some painting, gluing and landscaping.
I started by painting the interior of the double mainline tunnel black, including the track. I wanted to do this while it was still accessible and before any ballasting is started.
Next I added some side supports to take the single tunnel portal on the down incline.
Finally, I started some landscaping as well, covering the card lattice with newspaper soaked in a weak Polyfilla mix. Here you see the result of all three operations today.
A wider view… and the mind’s eye can start to see the shape of things to come.
Another view looking back along the track.
