Christmas Time and Buxton Lime

Despite recent events, things have been happening on “Dales Peak’. All right, there may not have been much physical progress on the layout but Christmas and eBay have produced an increase in rolling stock and a new camera. So, I can’t complain.

Christmas saw the arrival of a Class 37/0 diesel 37254 with plated centre head code in BR blue (with DCC Sound on board) from Hattons. It’s February now and I still haven’t found the time to change the default address or to hear it make a sound.

More recently I acquired this set of four Bachmann 90-ton Buxton Lime Industries JGA hopper wagons via eBay. For the sake of this post I have temporarily placed some track through the ‘Overdale Quarry’ loading facility to photograph them. It also served to show how tight the fit is for the hopper wagons.

The loading facility will have to be raised slightly to make sure everything runs smoothly but there is still a lot of work to do to this anyway.

Another acquisition this Christmas was a Fujifilm Finepix S1000 camera. This frees up the original Olympus X-715 camera for family photography. These are some of the first pictures I have taken with it and I am very pleased with the results.
