New siding for ‘Overdale Quarry’

I started to create the new siding at ‘Overdale Quarry’ by modifying a Peco SL-E91 code 100 Electrofrog turnout, to isolate its frog rails.

Peco SL-E91 code 100 turnout with the connection wire between the frog and the point blades removed.
Marked in red, on this Peco SL-E91 code 100 turnout, is where the connection wire, between the frog and the point blades, has been removed.

Here the plastic moulding has been removed from below the stock rail and closure rail with a Stanley knife.

The plastic moulding was removed from below the frog rails too.

With these modifications completed, the ‘dropper’ wires were soldered in place ready for installation.

Finally, the track is laid and the new siding is completed.

All that remains to be done is to fit the turnout with a Tortoise slow motion switch machine.
