A little Farther’s Day present to myself. A Faller Car System starter set.
By way of a treat to myself, for Farther’s Day, I bought a Faller Car System starter set. I’ve been impressed with how these vehicles complement the trains on Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg. If you want to get an impression of what I’m talking about take a look at the following video.
Of course, I’ve only bought a basic set, and I’ve no intention of this turning Dales Peak into a road layout, or taking it as far as Miniatur Wunderland, but I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s pretty amazing what can be done.
I ordered the LKW (‘Lastkraftwagen’, or as we say a little more succinctly in English “Truck”, or do I mean American) set from Gaugemaster and eagerly tracked my purchase online, on UPS’s site, until it duly arrived. The box was quite a bit bigger than I was expecting, pleasantly.
My thought was to anglicise this very obviously European looking truck and use it as a quarry vehicle.
At some point in the future it would be great to add an excavator, circling around the quarry, but that would be a more ambitious scratch build project.
For now, I will content myself with trying to fit the Faller Car System into the track plan.
