I’ve been struggling with what to do with the Dales Peak track plan for a while. Inspiration has been in short supply but, finally, I’ve settled on incorporating a ‘folded dog bone’ configuration with inclines, to give the layout more depth.
Although, having drawn up the track plan, I couldn’t visualise how it was going to work exactly. That’s when I decided to build a model. Something I could physically see and touch.
I made the 1:20th scale model by printing out the track plan several times and mounting it onto cardboard and cutting it out.
There are still track and location details to work out but I’m happy with the concept. Just got to build it now.
Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together? Great looking way to bridge the gap between ideas and reality.
Thank you. Yes, this model really helped to convince me that the track plan will work, and I actually quite enjoyed making it too.
